"Nothing was as I had imagined it, which is surprising only if one considers what I had imagined."

I am reminded of a meeting in Kathmandu with a woman from Spain named Sophia. We enjoyed an afternoon coffee on Mandala Street, ‘the only walking street in Thamel’, and talked about home. She asked me, if I missed it, and I didn't know how to answer her. How could I miss something I never had? And yet, I did. I asked her what home was? She said, it was the place where you come from, and where you always return. I laughed at her sentimentality. But later that day, alone in my room I began to cry. Because apparently, not all homes are scars, and some people know where to return.
